I came here yesterday to attend a teaching on Dzogchen by Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche. The event was organized by the local Dzogchen Community. Bo also came. Actually, he’s the one who told me about this teaching. We met two students of Rinpoche who live in Thailand. We were warmly received by the community here.
The event started at 10 am and was over at 8 pm. And it will be like this for the next 2 days, with puja as the last event on the third day.
Rinpoche started his teaching with the statement that dzogchen is important for everybody. He said it is not religion. It’s necessary for all of us because of prevalent conflicts in society. We need peace but we don’t know how to attain it because we are conditioned by our ego. We need dzogchen to go beyond our limitation.
The talk went on for 2 consecutive hours capturing the essence of dzogchen, how we apply it in our everyday living and integrate the view with three gates of body, speech (voice), and mind. Rinpoche also explained the four noble truths, the three kayas of Buddha, how to take refuge, and gave transmission on the “short tun” practice. We felt fortunate to come here and get a chance to listen to this precious teaching..
